Windows and Doors

The weather has been a little tricky lately, so we have had to take quick advantage of the sunshine while we can and change out all the windows and door walls. The guys did most of that, although I did help a little. They had to cut out the old windows, then clean around the edges, then fit the new windows in and screw them in place. They had a tough time getting the downstairs door wall in because it was a tad too big, and then we realized after they had put it in and caulked it that it was not opening to the correct side! So the whole thing needs to be taken out and flipped around. It's a really big bummer. I guess the lesson there is to make sure to check which way things open, and to test them out, before securing them in place. In our case, the guys hung the door right, in the sense that it is the normal orientation, but it just opens on the wrong side for our room. With that particular model of door it only comes one way. If you want it to open the other way you need to switch a few parts of it around and then hang it upside down, and that is what we should have done. I feel bad that it needs to be changed around, and I sympathize with having to go back and change something you already did, but if we want it to be right, we need to switch it.
While they were working on the door they also had to do some repairs to the foundation and the floor, and replace beams that had been water damaged. It was a pretty big project, but no problem for the guys!
